Keep the Factory Running!

Thursday on the Network: Book Learnin’

Hey Factory Fans!

I have a college degree in Communications.  That (as my father said) and fifty cents will get you a cup of coffee.  (I know, coffee is more than fifty cents, but this was the 80’s.)  Still, I don’t regret going to college.  Who could regret a four year party on your parents’ dime?

And speaking of college, at Super Frat it’s The Importance of Education.

Thursday’s Validation features Mr. Dino.

Someone sends Harold George a get well pic.

And the Quote of the Day is from Aristotle:

“The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.”

Character Profile: Willy

Willy

Name: Willy

First Appearance:  Willy’s Space Dive #1

Description: Willy is the owner of Willy’s Space Dock (although the locals insist on calling it Willy’s Space Dive).  The bar is located on level 23 of the space station that orbits Uranus, which is usually the last stop for travelers heading out of the galaxy.  Willy is human, but interacts mainly with an alien clientele.  This was something he wanted after leaving Earth, but the novelty of meeting alien lifeforms has long since worn off on him.  Like any bartender, he’s a good listener and wants to serve his customers.  Unfortunately, they are often wildly unpredictable because of their extremely alien backgrounds.

Willy has a crush on a sex android named Trixie that frequents the station.  His best customer is an alien named Mois, who spends an inordinate amount of time in the bar.

Wednesday on the Network: Truth is Worth It

Hey Factory Fans!

In my first comic, Jersey Devil, the character runs around with a staff with the word “Truth” carved into.  The metaphor being that truth is a powerful weapon.  Well, it is, even though few people seem to value it today.  Anything but striving for the truth is pretty much a waste of time.

Today at Super Frat, it’s Twitter in Focus with Tommy Chong.

Harold George has a new post for you. (He’s out sick today.)

And the Quote of the Day is from George Braque:

“Truth exists; only lies are invented.”

Tuesday on the Network: Going Soft

Hey Factory Fans!

They say today’s college students are far too fragile for the real world.  I think there’s some truth to that, but I also think people get caught up in whatever the flavor-of-the-week is.  Some college students, who are testing their limits now that they’re adults, usually take this to a weird extreme.  My advice, just enjoy college, learn, experience and try not to take things too close to heart.  There’s plenty of time for you to be disappointed and crushed by life’s expectations later.

And that’s just what today’s Super Frat strip is about.

And speaking of Super Frat, did you know we were working on a Super Frat card game?

Don’t miss Harold George’s post.

And the Quote of the Day is from Theodore Roosevelt:

“The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.”

Character Profile: Dr. Owen Carlisle

Owen

Name: Dr. Owen Carlisle

First Appearance:  Intergalactic Medical Doctor: The Perfect Slice

Description:  Dr. Owen Carlisle is the Chief Medical Officer on the space cruiser S.V. Portland. For someone in charge of such an important duty he is personally very messy. He wishes life was a bit more fun. Owen likes to pull pranks and enjoys studying ancient comedians.  Fortunately, the good doctor is quite talented and despite his quirkiness, his humanity always shines through even when his behavior annoys others.
