FERNANDO SOSA (artist for Tony Destructo)

I have been working inside in the world of comics for nine years, but always I drew comics with the hope a being a professional.  As a kid, I loved drawing comics and started drawing comics at 18.  I got started working for Cartoon magazine and later for Garabato doing animation for a TV show.  Those experiences really helped me hone my cartoon style.

My style is a mix between cartoon, funny, realistic drawing and Amerimanga.

The styles just seem to integrate into whatever I’m doing at the time.  My academic studies in fine arts, television and film are also a great influence.

Besides Tony Destructo, I’m working a project for school, one of my own creations and another comic in the United States.  I’ve also worked on four unpublished comic books of Joe Doogan,  Zombie Hunter for Panday Comics and Arcana Studios.  I worked for Brazil in a series of children’s books of the Jewish community, books for kids in Netherlands, designs of dolls for a USA company and worked with the American agency Glasshouse graphics.

I formed part of 2 agencies: Undergram (France) and Caricatures Now (USA).

I do website pin-ups and 2D animation for adults, and provide material for another site on this topic for the last 2 years.  I’ve also collaborated with the adult comic Miss Joan for a client of Italy.

Besides working as a freelance for several newspapers in my country for 7 consecutive years, I’ve worked for studies that provided material for newspapers in Mexico for 3 years.  I am currently working for the site CBM on a parody of Superman, called Fleischer.  Additionally, I’m working for two publishing companies, Mega Comics and Arcana Studios and doing freelance work for publishers and private clients.

For the last three years, I’ve been the editor of a magazine called Barricada comics, where Spanish and Latin American artists collaborate, under my supervision and editorial design.  Nine of my books are available in Indyplanet/Kablam and also in DriveThruComic.com.

I’ve always wanted to do a webcomic.   They are quickly gaining acceptance, especially amongst the young.  Projects like Tony Destructo are a lot of fun.  You can check out some of my other work here www.sapienstoonz.netfirms.com and here www.sapienstoonz.blogspot.com.
