Keep the Factory Running!

Saturday on the Network: The Days Blur

Hey Factory Fans!

Blurry days today.  Don’t know why, but I thought it was Sunday and put the wrong date on today’s post.  Where is my head?  I don’t know.  Guess I’m thinking forward to my book signing on April 13th at Bogart’s Books.  Here’s a handy link to all my signings.

At Super Frat, it’s Ten Things That Shouldn’t Happen in a Fancy Restaurant.

And the Quote of the Day is from Aeschylus:

“Ah, lives of men! When prosperous they glitter – Like a fair picture; when misfortune comes – A wet sponge at one blow has blurred the painting.”

Friday on the Network: Censorship is Coming

Apr06

Hey Factory Fans!

Just a heads up, censorship is heading our way.  You may have noticed (or not) that Craigslist no longer offers dating classifieds.  That’s because, apparently, people had been using them for, well, hookers.  There’s a new law that says websites are responsible for third party content regarding prostitution.  So the Feds just seized Backpage for the same reason.  You might say, “So what?  That has nothing to do with me?”  Ya see, once you establish a law that says websites are responsible for the actions of people on the site, it kind of opens the door to everything.  So what if someone contacts a hooker, say, in the comments section of your website?  See?  Now YOU’RE on the hook.  And what if they expand that law to say, well any illegal activity?  Encouraging drug use?  Lots of webcomics I’ve done could be construed that way.  Hell, the Antiwar Comic touches on a lot of hot button topics.

Bottom line, it’s not a good law and it’s going to scare people who run websites into censoring more of their content.  I mean, c’mon, Craigslist?  They’re not criminals.  I think we all know what it’s for.  And yet, they’ve cut off a whole section of their website because of this law.  I think it’s just the beginning…

At Super Frat, it’s Rewritten Headlines, all the news that’s fit to rewrite!

And the Quote of the Day is from George Bernard Shaw:

“The first condition of progress is the removal of censorship.”

Wednesday on the Network: Are You a Patron?

Apr04

Hey Factory Fans!

One of the toughest parts of keeping this site going is getting the money to fund it.  Chasing sponsors is REALLY distracting.  It takes hours of emailing and phone calls and making stuff in Photoshop.  That’s all time that could be spent making more comics or making the ones we have, better.  Consider throwing us a bone!  For just one dollar a month at Patreon!  And for just two dollars a month, you can buy your way into Link Buddy status!  Plus you’ll be part of the Wall of Fame!  If we just had a few hundred patrons, I could start taking the ads off the site.  Hell, I’d probably start considering bumping it up to TWO comics a day.  Imagine that?!

At Validation, don’t miss the Tiny Unicorn preview!

And at Super Frat, it’s Twitter in Focus with Jeremy Piven!

And the Quote of the Day is from Ezra Pound:

“If a patron buys from an artist who needs money, the patron then makes himself equal to the artist; he is building art into the world; he creates.”

Tuesday on the Network: Taxation is Theft

Apr03
by Tony DiGerolamo on April 3, 2018 at 12:21 pm

Hey Factory Fans!

Aw, man, had to pay the IRS today.  Brutal.  I could’ve made so many comics with that money!  And what is the government going to waste it on?  Probably blowing up potential fans in faraway countries.  One day, the Antiwar Comic will pay off fans and I will have to do a different comic.  Probably one about Libertarianism.

At Super Frat, it’s a new strip.

And the Quote of the Day is from Milton Frieidman:

“Inflation is taxation without legislation.”

And the Quote of the Day is from Franz Kafka:

“A book should serve as the ax for the frozen sea within us.”
