DAVE WINDETT (artist for Comic Book Mafia)

I am an artist who has worked on comics featuring numerous licensed characters, including Inspector Gadget, Eek the Cat, Ace Ventura, Daffy Duck and Korky the Cat.

For the Scandinavian market I have illustrated educational books, business manuals and comics.  I have also designed original characters for a variety of publications and provided illustrations for everything from magazines and websites to mobile phones, games, and children’s shoes.

Samples of my work can be seen at –http://www.davewindett.com/

For me web comics have a chance of reaching a wider audience than print comics. People who are not just interested in superheroes, the web  gives creators access to that readership and allows them to develop  a more diverse range of stories and artwork.

Artist Bio: Justin Stewart

JUSTIN STEWART (former artist for In a Relationship)

“I live in Kentucky with my darling wife Leslee and two amazing dogs, Shep and Zoe.  I’m a graphic designer/illustrator by day and by night, well… I pretty much do the same thing, except add in ‘writer’ and ‘artist’.  I’ve been coloring comics professionally since 2005.  Mainly under Jim Mahfood’s mind-blowing pencils and inks. Clients include Marvel, Image, Viper and a multitude of smaller publishers. Much of my work can bee seen at www.justinstewart.net or www.popstewcomics.com.

When I think of webcomics, the only words that come to mind are “the future”. With the advent of so many mobile devices, webcomics are only going to grow in popularity and presence. It really is amazing that we live in a day and age where anyone who wants to voice his or her view and art can do just that. I mean, that really is amazing, isn’t it? Now, I’m not saying everything online is gold, but the fact that someone who feels like they have something to express can express it, is just fantastic to me. The webcomic is here to stay and I am genuinely excited for all the new voices to speak up.”

Artist Bio: Fernando Sosa

FERNANDO SOSA (artist for Tony Destructo)

I have been working inside in the world of comics for nine years, but always I drew comics with the hope a being a professional.  As a kid, I loved drawing comics and started drawing comics at 18.  I got started working for Cartoon magazine and later for Garabato doing animation for a TV show.  Those experiences really helped me hone my cartoon style.

My style is a mix between cartoon, funny, realistic drawing and Amerimanga.

The styles just seem to integrate into whatever I’m doing at the time.  My academic studies in fine arts, television and film are also a great influence.

Besides Tony Destructo, I’m working a project for school, one of my own creations and another comic in the United States.  I’ve also worked on four unpublished comic books of Joe Doogan,  Zombie Hunter for Panday Comics and Arcana Studios.  I worked for Brazil in a series of children’s books of the Jewish community, books for kids in Netherlands, designs of dolls for a USA company and worked with the American agency Glasshouse graphics.

I formed part of 2 agencies: Undergram (France) and Caricatures Now (USA).

I do website pin-ups and 2D animation for adults, and provide material for another site on this topic for the last 2 years.  I’ve also collaborated with the adult comic Miss Joan for a client of Italy.

Besides working as a freelance for several newspapers in my country for 7 consecutive years, I’ve worked for studies that provided material for newspapers in Mexico for 3 years.  I am currently working for the site CBM on a parody of Superman, called Fleischer.  Additionally, I’m working for two publishing companies, Mega Comics and Arcana Studios and doing freelance work for publishers and private clients.

For the last three years, I’ve been the editor of a magazine called Barricada comics, where Spanish and Latin American artists collaborate, under my supervision and editorial design.  Nine of my books are available in Indyplanet/Kablam and also in DriveThruComic.com.

I’ve always wanted to do a webcomic.   They are quickly gaining acceptance, especially amongst the young.  Projects like Tony Destructo are a lot of fun.  You can check out some of my other work here www.sapienstoonz.netfirms.com and here www.sapienstoonz.blogspot.com.

Artist Bio: Nicholas Raimo

NICHOLAS RAIMO (artist for Dealers)

Nicholas Raimo is an Italian comic artist/illustrator born in 1987.   He graduated in 2005 from the Comic School “Scuola Chiavarese del Fumetto” in Sestri Levante, Italy, after the three years of studies. He never stopped drawing, and at last his passion has become a job.   He started work as a professional artist as illustrator for the SerialKillerCalendar Company, in 2009.  Now he’s working on some indipendent comic books and he’s having his first experience on webcomics with “Dealers”.
You can follow his works on his devianART page at this link: www.8red7.deviantart.com or you can take a look at his Online Portfolio by clicking on this link: www.nicholasraimo.daportfolio.com
“I’ve always loved comics, and to tell you the truth, printed comics.  I like the smell of the printed paper in my hands and the feeling it gives to me, but I have to say that now, in the Digital Era, webcomics are the consequent evolution of the comic book media.  It gives many benefits to a lot of people, from the reader, that with a click can instantly read his fave comic, to the artists, writers and so on, who can more easily find their way into them. And, well.. without talking of the biggest benefit of all I guess.  No printing costs…”
