Keep the Factory Running!

Tuesday on the Network: Summer Blur

Jul22
by Tony DiGerolamo on July 22, 2014 at 1:54 pm
Posted In: Blog

Hey Factory Fans!

Man, this summer is zooming by!  Enjoy it while it lasts!  And if you get a moment, please visit our sponsor, MyDigitalComics.com.  They got tons of free downloads and supporting them, supports us!

Kelci Crawford, artist of Validation, is interviewed at Land of the Nerds.

At Super Frat, the bros get their game on in Clicking Means Caring.

And the Quote of the Day is from Anton Chekhov:
“People don’t notice whether it’s winter or summer when they’re happy.”

Monday on the Network: Complaint Department

Jul21
by Tony DiGerolamo on July 21, 2014 at 12:02 pm
Posted In: Blog

Hey Factory Fans!

It’s Monday and I can’t complain.  Well, I guess I can complain about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes at Super Frat.  But other than that, it’s summer and the weekend was pretty sweet.

Validation has a brand new Monday Strip.

And the Quote of the Day is from Daniel Clowes:

“When you see somebody who’s got a complaining personality, it usually means that they had some vision of what things could be, and they’re constantly disappointed by that. I think that would be the camp that I would fall into – constantly horrified by the things people do.”

Sunday on the Network: Squeaky Clean

Jul20
by Tony DiGerolamo on July 20, 2014 at 2:21 pm
Posted In: Blog

Hey Factory Fans!

As it turns out, the Super Frat site is squeaky clean.  The problem (as some of you webcomic creators may already know) apparently was with the InkOutbreak site.  I had a plugin on the Super Frat site that allowed you to vote or something.  Sadly, the attack was coming from there, but it has been removed and the folks at InkOutbreak are working on the solution.  I just don’t get why porn sites need to spam like that.  I mean, you put boobies on a site and the hits just roll in.

At Super Frat, it’s Your Fratoscope for July 20, 2014.

And the Quote of the Day is from William S. Burroughs:

“Visual art and writing don’t exist on an aesthetic hierarchy that positions one above the other, because each is capable of things the other can’t do at all. Sometimes one picture is equal to 30 pages of discourse, just as there are things images are completely incapable of communicating.”

Saturday on the Networks: Critical of Critics

Jul19
by Tony DiGerolamo on July 19, 2014 at 2:53 pm
Posted In: Blog

Hey Factory Fans!

Over the years, I’ve heard lots of criticism.  You deal with it by reading it and pretty much ignoring it.  But one thing that bugs me about it is when your critiqued by a stupid guy.  (And there are lots of those on the Internet!)  I mean, it’s one thing not to like something, but it’s quite another to get the facts wrong while stating your critique.  It indicates that you didn’t even read what you’re critiquing closely enough to know what you’re talking about.  At least if you’re going to bash me, bash me accurately!

At Super Frat, it’s Why I’m Not Seeing These Movies.  (Just FYI, we’re dealing with some attacks over at Superfrat.com, but we’re working on it!)

And the Quote of the Day is from Malcolm X:

“If you have no critics you’ll likely have no success.”

Friday on the Network: Freelancing

Jul18
by Tony DiGerolamo on July 18, 2014 at 1:52 pm
Posted In: Blog

Hey Factory Fans!

Freelancing is a crazy life.  Never a dull moment.  Well, actually there are plenty of dull moments, but way less than people who have regular jobs.  It’s pretty exciting when you have to scramble for jobs and money, even when it’s stressful.  Or when your client is practically begging you to lie to them and tell you that what they’ve written so far is genius.  Needless to say, I’ve lost plenty a job with my big mouth!

Today at Super Frat it’s Rewritten Headlines:  NSA to Taco Bell.

And the Quote of the Day is from Harvey Pekar:

“I have to be a freelance writer for the rest of my life, unless I get some kind of real lucky break. But other than that, I’ll always have to work. I always worry about whether my stuff is going to get over. Will they like this, will they like that?”
