   I’ve heard that the US government could start reducing its debt if taxes were increased, but no one would elect a president who’d raise taxes.

   And in the second panel I think that “this an other factors” should be “this and other factors”.

     Well, actually the problem is spending. Any president that raised taxes wouldn’t just dump the money in the deficit. That’s doesn’t score you political points. What would really help is cutting overhead, like stopping the wars overseas. Ridiculously, the latest talk centers around expanding the Pacific fleet. And, oh, yeah, fixed!
