Artists Bios: Ivan Cortez

IVAN CORTEZ (artist for Gentlemen’s Club)

Ivan Cortez was born in 1982 in Lima, Peru.  He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor degree in Social Communication, Audiovisual Production and Journalism from San Marcos University.   In 2008, he graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art after completing three successful years of study.  His main skills include storytelling, caricature, cartooning, illustration, advertising and graphic design.

With plenty of drawing experience, a love of comics and pop culture,  a hawkish eye and the ability to thrive under pressure, he is fulfilling his dream by being a professional penciler and commercial artist.

“I think webcomics are a very good opportunity for upcoming artists who are trying to break in the business.  It is a fun way to express yourself and have fun doing what you love: creating and drawing stories. And for the fans, the webcomics help them to see other things besides mainstream comic books.  Plus it gives them a different look into society and life.”

Happy Friday Factory Fans! Today marks the end of Sports Guys Week. We all had a lot of fun working on the 5-day run so look for more special events like it in the future!

Over at Comic Book Resources there is an interview with Factory co-founders Christian Beranek and Tony DiGerolamo. Thanks to Steve Sunu for rocking great questions!

There’s also a new post at Dracula vs King Arthur as Galahad and Bors try to make camp for the night in the dark woods.

Super Frat has a review of the new Bill Murray movie, Get Low.

Check back in tomorrow for a new episode of Comic Book Mafia!

Sports Guys week continues.  Look for Post Apocalyptic Nick next week in its regular time!

And with all the changes around here, I forgot to mention the new strip over at Hot Mess.

And, of course, Thursday means a new strip at Super Frat.

Hey Factory Fans!

As you can see, the Factory has gone through some renovations thanks our webmaster Nick.  A special shout out to Phillip Hofer who really came through with some important code.

We still have a little tweaking to do, but as you can see, you can now scroll through the individual comics so you can read whole stories without interruption.  Try it out!

Sports Guys week continues here.  Look for Japanese Schoolgirls in Love and The Gentlemen’s Club next week on their normal days!
