You have a funny way of explaining away White Privilege. White people should have the right to speak their minds regardless of the consequences? Minorities are always held accountable for their actions sometime with deadly consequences.

The right to free speech is not an absolute right. The right to free speech does not mean freedom from consequences. You seem to want everyone to respect people’s right (and privilege) to use their position to hurt others though hate speech but no one has the right to hold these people accountable for their words.

If people cry that black NFL players should be fired for taking a knee (how dare them use their civil rights in public), how can anyone cry about the firing of a white person because of their public hate speech?

I am sure there are “fine people” on both sides of this argument…

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Employers are governed by several laws in regards to termination. Thanks to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, most employers are prohibited from terminating someone because of their race, gender, national origin, disability, religion, genetic information or age (if the employee is 40 or more years old).

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces Title VII, but it is important to note that not all employers are bound by the law, such as private organizations with 14 employees or less.

Other federal discrimination acts that govern termination include the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Pay Act, Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), Civil Rights Act of 1866 (Section 1981), Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA).

None of these laws protect employees from termination due to political, organizational affiliation or disseminating hate speech. Just as the government can not enforce limits on your speech, nor can they force an employer to retain someone. By Amirah Bey

Blah, blah, blah. In case you don’t know it, most entertainers are bound by a behavior clause in their contracts for this very kind of disaster. It’s so the corporation can fire them immediately for whatever bad publicity they bring to them. Sadly, most of the other actors in Roseanne’s show are probably going to be forced to star in the “Not-Roseanne” show that will come after. I’m sure you’ll be watching from your ivory tower where you make no mistakes. Be careful what you say, Kel! The Internet watches!

What kinds of speech are not protected by the First Amendment?

Although different scholars view unprotected speech in different ways, there are basically nine categories:
    •Obscenity
    •Fighting words
    •Defamation (including libel and slander)
    •Child pornography
    •Perjury
    •Blackmail
    •Incitement to imminent lawless action
    •True threats
    •Solicitations to commit crimes

Some experts also would add treason, if committed verbally, to that list. Plagiarism of copyrighted material is also not protected.

    https://www.freedomforuminstitute.org

Since Rosanne called Valerie Jarrett an “Muslim brotherhood ape”. This would fall under defamation and is not protected under the First Amendment. Now if she said “All Black people are Muslim brotherhood apes”, that would be protected speech since it is not directed toward a person. Saying the above does not protect you from being fired because of it.

Are you trying to make some kind of point? Normally when a person makes A point. The stick to the topic. If you’re trying to impress me with the cut and paste job you did here, you failed. Valerie Jarrett is or was a public official and they get called all sorts of things. She has almost zero legs to stand on if she decided to sue for defamation and I think you know that. I think everyone knows that. So your laundry list of things that have nothing to do with what you said in the original post is just blather. Blah, blah, blah, look how smart I am.

As for Roseanne, she’s already been fired and apologized. What more do you want? Public flogging? A pint of blood maybe? I don’t even know what point you’re trying to make any more. That you know things? That you’re better than the rest of us somehow? Try talking about the comic, Kel. You’re becoming tiresome.

I am not trying to “impress” you. I have read your rants long enough to know you are not the type of person to be impressed by things like facts. I post here every so often to remind people that:
    1. You are not always right.
    2. Your rants are usually one-sided.
    3. I wouldn’t want people to lose their jobs because they listened to your incorrect rant.
    4. People need to read the constitution AND laws, judgments, and case law about the “freedom of speech” BEFORE they make statements about the First Amendment. Or at the very least Google the topic from good websites.

The “freedom of speech” does not mean freed to spread misinformation.

Oooooh. YOU get to decide who is right and who is wrong. I forgot that the world got together and elected to the judge of all things “right”. You’re not doing it because you’re immense ego (which btw, the actual theme of this comic), but because only YOU can judge! It’s not a discussion, it’s your NOBLE CALLING! Hahahaha! My God, try reading your own rants once in a while. What happened to your argument regarding “white privilege”? Guess you abandoned that the moment you figured out that I’m not some soy boi begging for the Internet’s forgiveness, eh?

Are you just discovering now that opinions are one-sided? That creative people don’t have to balance both sides of an argument?

You don’t want people to lose their jobs?! Hahaha! Under what POSSIBLE scenario would THAT happen? “Boss, I read a comic today, so I’d like to use my freedom of speech to tell you to fuck off!”

Freedom of Speech means the freedom to say anything, but as you correctly pointed out, it doesn’t protect you from the consequences of that speech. And you might recall, way back when you started this up, that the comic talks about Roseanne. She already suffered the consequences. But it’s never enough for the SJW-types is it? You can never be sorry enough can you?

The Wheel keeps turning Kel and the SJW’s shall reap the wind.

I know, I know, it’s hard to accept how right I always am. Such is my curse.
