When you are arguing politics on the Internet, as I often do because I must be some kind of sadist, you run into a lot of deflection.  People just trot out their emotion or something completely off topic in order to avoid actually talking about what you were actually talking about.  It shows you have a short attention span, which the Internet famously crushes to nothing.
